Bonfire Night

The weather was cold and wet and so the bonfire and fireworks that followed were the perfect antidote. Thanks to Hilton for putting on such a fantastic show; there was the standard fare of hot dogs which had to be eaten superfast before they got too cold, there were marshmallows to be roasted over an open fire, a Guy Fawkes dressed as Mr Caston and burned on an impressive bonfire created by Mr Batchelder; and the piece de resistance were the amazing fireworks to cap off an amazing night. Mertens boys had a brilliant time as I am sure the photos will attest...



Steepo 2013 - Mertens are Senior Boys Champions!!!

For the second time in 4 years, Mertens Senior boys won the Youd Cup, which reflects the best performance by the first 6 finishers. Indeed, the Senior boys' race could not have started better with Mertens boys finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Congratulations to Chris Holman, Eddie Davis and Louis Maret for a dominant performance at the head of the race. Alex Summerfield, Will Smith and Jonathon Riese came in 9th, 21st and 24th respectively to claim the Senior Boys' Trophy.

In the Junior boys' race Will Currie and Ollie Thompson were impressive placing 11th and 13th.

Congratulations and a massive thanks must go to those who trained hard over the previous 7 weeks; especially Moritz von Contzen who led the House in training runs. Thanks also to the Prefects for their motivational prowess and leadership!! Well done Mertens!
